Gulabo Sitabo - Movie Reviews 2020,Aushman khurana, amitabh bachan

Story - The movie follows Mirza Chunnan Nawab (Amitabh Bachchan) as he attempts to vacate his non-paying tenant, Baankey Rastogi (Ayushmann Khurrana). They have a continuous fight for the ownership of the dilapidated mansion (Fatima Mahal) named after the real owner Fatima Begum, Mirza's wife. Fed up of Mirza's greed and his intention of selling off the mansion, Begum elopes with her ex-lover Abdul Rahman and Mirza and Baankey are left with nothing.

How did the film go

The story of the film is good but in the film it is loose and somewhere fast and some slow. It looks good in pieces but when the whole film is over and we think of a single idea about the film, this film is just fine It looks like neither good nor bad

Film problem

The real problem of the film is its screenplay… .which is very sluggish in the beginning and in the meantime a tune playing behind every scene makes it worse… This tune gives the feel of a cheap serial… .Begin Humer But it is also a problem that this humer does not connect with itself on its own…. You will have to click through it yourself…

Film events

Almost all the events of the film are in the convention… the story moves through the dialogues… .but the last half hour of the film is better than the rest of the film… ..the same half hour can be called a film, Before that, this film looks like an old serial coming on DD One….

Amitabh Bachchan's role is ineffective

Even if there is no Amitabh in the film, it does not matter and while Amitabh Bachchan is present in it, it also does not matter much…. Amitabh's work is as good as ever but his makeup is very heavy…. Ayushman Khurana His work is also good but he has appeared in the film just like a sporting cast… .However it is rarely that he should have a role in a script and not be in the lead….

The cast of the rest of the film

In the role of Guddo, Srishti Srivastava has got good scenes and despite the big actors, she has made her number. Brijendra ji and Vijay Raj ji have a style of their own. Both of them have got Rs.

Film music

There is nothing worth mentioning in the song and music of the film and it was a very cheap feel as mentioned above about the background tunes.

Movie release online

The film was released online. Because it was the kind of film it was a bad feeling to watch in cinema. And I think it was going to be very difficult for the film to pull the audience to the cinema. The attention that the film received, has also been a positive deal for the film. The first look of Amitabh Bachchan from the film, a quirky teaser poster was presented on 21 June, 2019. The film was scheduled for release on 17 April, 2020.The release date of the film was initially announced for November 2019, but was then advanced to 28 April, 2020 and later preponed to February 28, 2020. The film's release date was again postponed to 17 April, 2020. The film was then scheduled to be released on 17 April 2020, and then was further postponed. On 22 May, 2020 the official trailer was launched by Amazon Prime Video.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was not released theatrically, but was released worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on 12 June 2020.

Critical reception

Anupama Chopra of Film Companion said that, "The film takes its time setting up this world, which is both contained and timeless. The first hour moves at a measured pace. In this, Gulabo Sitabo is more like October than Piku. The humour is quieter," but also criticises it for its pacing, "These characters aren’t necessarily likeable so you might feel a little fatigued in their company. The narrative also meanders."The Times of India gave it a rating of 3.5 out of 5 saying, "While the movie does well on many fronts and one of the highlights being the premise itself, the build-up consumes a fair share of the film, making it a tad draggy at the start." He also praised the performances of all actors in the film. Mike McCahill of The Guardian  gave it slightly negative review, giving 2 out of 5. Unimpressed by the performances and narrative, he says, "Bachchan works hard at his swaddled meanie character, but make-up and props are doing most of the work, work that ultimately serves to distance actor from audience. A tired-seeming Khurrana, meanwhile, presents as blandly anonymous, reducing a final push for pathos to a limp shrug. Everyone appears at the mercy of shaky narrative foundations.

Finally about the film

At the beginning and end of the film, a puppet is shown dancing with puppets. The name of these puppets is Gulabo Sitabo but you have to find out who are the puppets in the film and who is drawing them. You can see the film if You might want to see some light-heartedness. But if you are blind believing in the name of Shoojit Sircar and the script choice of Ayushman Khurana, then this film will disappoint you. One thing in the film which was strange was that the old Begum who was unable to move. Hai, why did he not choose the lower porch for his stay in the mansion?

Rating - 3/5
