Amar Singh Chamkila Is One Of The Greatest Singer

Like Gurcharan Pohli, Veerendra had made up his mind to take Chamkila in films. In Patola Film, Veerendra had taken Chamkila's song. Song name was "Pehle Lalkare Naal". Chamkila had said in the arena at that time that his song was also coming in a Punjabi film and he was very happy. But this singer did not get the chance to watch the film and see the song in the film. Veerendra's dream of taking him in films was also shattered. Chamkila's talk was all over Bollywood. Shri Devi, Meenakshi, Dharmendra, Amitabh, Govinda were all fans of Chamkila. Shri Devi also expressed her desire to work brilliantly at that time.

Amarjot has been instrumental in bringing Chamkila to the top. Chamkila has achieved the milestone of performing many famous duets with solo, religious and co-singers Surinder Sonia and Amarjot. It's been 32 years since Chamkila passed away, but she is still revered by his fans. Chamkila hails from Dugri village in Ludhiana district.

Although there is disagreement about his actual date of birth, the date of birth is written on his passport as July 10, 1960. But his actual birth was on July 21, 1960. Dhani Ram (Chamkila's first name), the promising son of Mata Kartar Kaur and Hari Singh, was introduced to music at an early age. At a very young age, he worked hard to support his family and continued to enjoy music. Singing in dramas in neighboring villages, attending programs with famous duets of the time and performing songs further fueled her enthusiasm for singing. With the help of Dholak Master Kesar Singh Tikki, he met the brilliant singer Surinder Shinda and started going to programs with him. Meanwhile, when he would sing one or two songs on stage, people would say, "Stop the other artist, we just have to listen to Chamkila."

After hearing Chamkila singing on stage, famous comedian, lyricist and stage manager Sanmukh Singh Azad changed his name from Dhani Ram Sandila to Amar Singh Chamkila and said that the boy's name will shine in the future. Chamkila first came to the market as a lyricist when his first song 'Mein Diggi Tilak Ke Chhade Jeth Ne Chukki' was recorded in the voices of Surinder Sonia and Surinder shinda  which became very popular. In 1981-82, H.M. Also in the company, Chamkila's two EP records 'Takua Te Takua Kharake' and 'Bapu Sada Gum Ho Gaya' were recorded with Surinder Sonia. These eight doubles caused a stir all over the Punjab. For some reason, Chamkila's set was broken than Sonia's. Soon after, in November 1982, he got a set with Amarjot, who sang with Manak.

Chamkila's first EP record with Amarjot was 'Chuck Lo Driver Purje Nu' which was recorded in 1982. After this record, two EP records 'Mitra Mein Khand Ban Gayi' and 'Raat Nu Sulah Safaiyan' came in the market. By the time her first LP record 'Jija Luck Minlay' hit the market, Chamkila had become a well-known artist. Due to over-booking of programs, he had cornered many of the most iconic artists of Punjab at that time. What made him different from other artists was that he wrote the song himself, was a good stylist, pronounced Punjabi words correctly, no one else could play a tambourine like him, he did not imitate any artist, He respected all the artists and set up free arenas in the homes of the poor.

The style of singing used by Chamkila using proverbs, idioms and folk dialects has come to the notice of very few other artists. Chamkila's rich vocabulary, his unique style of singing, his singing as well as his comedy in the arena made him popular. His books also sold at record highs. There was nothing but bright Amarjot. During the arena, Amarjot's applause beat the drums of the musicians. She was a good-natured, cheerful, beautiful girl. They both excelled in religious singing. No artist has been able to sing a hit religious song like Chamkila since then. Like Ustad Lal Chand Yamla Jatt's 'Satguru Nanak Teri Leela Niari A', Chamkila's first religious duet 'Talwar Mein Kalgidhar Di Hain' was very popular.

After this religious song, as many religious songs as he recorded were played in every gurdwara of the Punjab. His religious songs were also played on Pakistani radio stations. At that time Punjab was going through a period of extremism and there was an atmosphere of fear among the people, but Chamkila was entertaining the people by singing in the arenas without any fear.

He also had to face opponents during his singing journey. Seeing him rise, many called him a lazy singer. The result was completed on March 8, 1988. When Chamkila and Amarjot along with two musicians were brutally murdered at Mahisampur village in Jalandhar district before setting up an arena in broad daylight. This time also the 32nd birth anniversary of Chamkila and Amarjot is being celebrated on March 8 in his village Dugri, district Ludhiana.
